I wanted to create a mirror that made the viewer feel like they were plucked from a painting. The fruit shapes are inspired by the stone fruits around the entryways of New York City buildings. White oyster shells boldly sit on the black clay and create little shelves for real fruit, or perhaps a lipstick. I chose oil paint, firstly because I love the way it feels to paint with, but also because I want the mirror to stand as a piece of art.
